CarePortal

Making a Tangible Difference in Children's Lives

At Upper Room Fellowship, we're partnering with CarePortal to connect our church family directly with local children and families in crisis.

This innovative platform allows us to live out our value of service and generosity in practical, meaningful ways.

How CarePortal Works:

Step 1: Uncovering Real Needs

Child welfare professionals, teachers, law enforcement officers, and other community workers identify specific needs of vulnerable children and families they serve. These professionals have direct knowledge of critical needs that, when met, could keep children safe, families intact, and communities strengthened.

Step 2: Sharing Verified Requests

After thorough vetting, these professionals enter specific needs into the CarePortal system. Each request is legitimate, accurate, and directly impacts a child's wellbeing. Needs range from basic necessities like beds and appliances to more specialized support like mentoring, transportation, or housing assistance.

Step 3: Connecting Needs With Our Church

Our Upper Room Fellowship CarePortal team receives email alerts about needs in our community. We then share these opportunities with our church family through announcements, our email list, and social media. This allows everyone to participate according to their gifts and resources.

Step 4: Our Church Family Responds

When we see a need we can meet, our team coordinates the response—gathering needed items, funds, or volunteers. Over half of CarePortal requests receive responses within 48 hours! Specially trained team members often have the opportunity to help deliver items, creating meaningful connections with the families we serve.

The Impact of CarePortal

Each need met represents a life touched. When we provide a bed for a child, we're not just delivering furniture—we're giving that child a safe place to sleep and showing their family that they matter to God and to our community.

These tangible expressions of love often open doors to ongoing relationships. What begins as meeting a physical need can grow into mentoring, friendship, and spiritual support.

How You Can Get Involved

  • Join our response team: Become part of the core group that reviews needs and coordinates our church's responses
  • Contribute items or funds: Donate requested items or give financially toward meeting specific needs
  • Offer specialized skills: Volunteer your talents in areas like moving furniture, making repairs, or providing transportation
  • Pray: Support this ministry through consistent prayer for the families served and our response team
